Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth has admitted blame “on the basis that the surgeon in question was not only negligent, but to a degree reckless”. The surgeon Kamal Abusin is to undergo a disciplinary hearing and faces being struck off.
The £14 million compensation being claimed is to pay for the 38 year olds pain and suffering, the care he will need for the rest of his life, medical expenses and to compensate him for earnings lost due to his shattered career.
